St Pat's Celebration Committee
Countdown to the 101st Best Ever:
When most people think of St. Pat’s Celebration Committee at UMR we think of the parade, games, and the party that ensues. The campus and town only sees what goes on during the celebration, but there is more than just a party behind the green jackets. All year long the members of St. Pat’s are busy planning the celebration, but we are also busy helping out the community.

St. Pat’s supports the “Adopt a Highway” program. Its job is to makes sure that the highway is free of unsightly trash that would otherwise clutter the side of the road. Another project that the committee is doing this year is to help out the Salvation Army. During this project the manager had everyone completely rearrange the inside of the store, and paint some of the shelves that were in dire need.

During the winter the members help run the Christmas parade. This is a parade put on by the Rolla Chamber of Commerce that draws a nice crowd to Pine Street . In this parade the committee is busy working behind the scenes to organize the floats and trucks into the order they are suppose to be in.

On campus the committee members are just as active. We help to put on the Unity Day Parade, a small parade that went through campus and ended at the Havener Center . We help out blood drives by working tables, and collecting information. Throughout the year we are also participating in activities like carnival booths, Chalk the Walk, and various other projects.

Next time you are on campus and see a St. Pat’s rep in their jacket try to remember that they are in an organization that does more than just put on a big party. They are busy all year long, and it takes a certain type of person to be able to contribute as much as they have.
